Proposed Grant County ethanol plant put on hold

A proposed 60 million dollar ethanol plant slated north-central Indiana could now be built in a neighboring county.

Officials with Central Indiana Ethanol say a 15 million dollar high school renovation near the proposed plant in Grant County could cause their property taxes to increase by 100-thousand dollars.

Company president Steve Berry is scheduled to meet with economic development representatives in Miami County about locating the plant there. Officials had planned to build in Grant County along State Road 18 in Sweetser.

The plant would create about 40 jobs.
